(15.04.13 – 22.04.13) for its students. The students were shown presentations on earth
by the class in charges on the first day of the Earth week i.e. on 15th April’13. The class incharges simply left the students awestruck on the second day of the week by sharing various amazing facts about our mother earth. The third day made the students learn about the three R’s – REDUCE, REUSE AND RECYCLE. ‘TRASH TO TREASURE’ – take away craft was designed by the students on the lines of three R’s.
The fourth day saw the transformation of the school into one big easel board. All the students took part in the painting competition and exhibited their piece of art.
Celebrations of the Earth day reached its pinnacle on 22nd April, 13, when an ECO SHOW was held in the premises. ECO SHOW – A fashion show of its own kind. With a little thrift, whole lot of creativity was seen in the recycled fashion show which was held on
22nd April’13 in the school premises. The parents got together and they really supported it by transforming recycled materials such as cardboard, newspapers and discarded cloth, cloth shopping bags, used C.Ds, plastic bottles shoe boxes wrapping paper, news paper to name a few into eye-catching outfits. The parents actually transformed Trash into Treasure.
The culmination of the week long fanfare was done in the form of an assembly by Grade – V students. The students took the audience down the memory lane by enacting the speech of Sir Gaylord Nelson – the man behind the first celebration of the Earth day. They introduced the audience to a new term – PRECYCLE and talked about the efforts going on in our own country. A campaign launched by Delhi government – YOUR CARTON MY CLASSROOM (YCMC) was the highlight of the assembly. Vice Principal of
the school Ms. Seema Malhotra applauded the students and the staff for making this event a success story.
All the students dispersed with a promise to save mother earth in their own unique and small way.
