It was a day full of fun and excitement at Manav Rachna International School, Sec-51, Gurugram where the students of KG-A and Grade VI-A presented an assembly on Baisakhi. Students explained the importance of this harvest festival which is celebrated across Punjab.
Students came dressed in the traditional attire and explained the significance of Baisakhi, how Baisakhi marks the birth of Khalsa Panth and is the time for harvest of Rabi crops. A mesmerizing Bhangra presentation by the students fascinated everyone. Sikhs celebrate this very important day of their religion with joy and devotion by visiting gurudwaras and later celebrating with bhangra, gidda and baisakhi fairs etc. They also informed about the different ways of celebrating this festival in various regions of India such as Gudi Padwa in Maharashtra, Baisakhi in Punjab, Rongali Bihu in Assam, Ugadi in Andhra Pradesh etc. Students mesmerized everyone by reciting a shabad. The festive assembly concluded with bhangra on a peppy number.
Students also shared valuable information on Ambedkar Jayanti (14th April). The ceremony concluded with a Community Feast where children enjoyed traditional food in a traditional way.
