‘Reading Is Dreaming With Eyes Open’.
Inculcating a habit as good as reading a book needs support in the form of Book Week. A Book Week is to school as sunlight is to flowers. Flowers do grow without light but then all are not sunflowers. Book Week is a major event in the annual calendar of Manav Rachna International School, Sec-46, Gurugram. The Book Week celebrations and activities provide a platform to students where they can explore the reader in them. Interested students can plunge in the plethora of books available at the exhibition.
Celebrating the Indian Literature Festival, Book Week 2018 was held at MRIS-46 recently. Mr. Christopher C. Doyle (author of “The Pataala Prophecy”) and school Principal Ms. Dhriti Malhotra inaugurated the Book Week. The Book Week also witnessed the presence of internationally and nationally acclaimed authors, poets and personalities including Mr. Anil Shrivastav, Guinness World Record Holder, who has written a collection of Hindi Poems Kapoori Mehak; Ace quizmaster Mr. Adittya Nath Mubayi, Founder, Quizcraft Global; Ms. Sonia Bareja – entrepreneur, story teller, wellness coach & mentor; and Ms. Monisha Gupta, Resource Person with the British Council, Times of India and Scholastic India.
Activities conducted during the Book Week included a visit to Book Fair, introduction to Indian authors, quiz, author visits and talks, parent visits and talks, puppet show, story telling, hasya kavi sammelan by Mr. Anil Shrivastav, creative writing, tribute to R.K. Laxman among many others.
The love and hunger for reading and desire to explore more was visibly evident as students enthusiastically participated in the scheduled activities.
